Behind the scenes
Two sisters, a drone guru, a small-ish dog, and an adorable distraction
Meet the team
We're with you all day... you should probably like us.
Rebecca Elliot
Photo, VIDEO, EDITING, emailing
Genuinely invested in making your day the best it can be, Rebecca is quick with a compliment and loves to help people's best self shine through. She's a thrift store queen with a penchant for men's flannel shirts. A whitewater raft guide, skier, and rock climber, Rebecca is happiest with the sun on her face and feet in the water. Her weaknesses include natural hot springs, dad jokes, fresh-baked bread, and backlit grass in the wind. *swoon* Her strengths include putting a positive spin on it, and making your parents feel as important as they are.
Founder of Sunnybrook photo - Loved it so much, she roped her sister and partner into the industry.
Laura Elliot
Photographer, videographer
Laura's magic lies in knowing what you need before you do, and then humbly delivering it to you right as you figure it out. She is intuitive and observant - which helps her catch those otherwise-missed moments. Laura is most at home in a deep hot bath, surrounded by plants, with a glass of whiskey neat. She soaks up the silence as the last person around a campfire... but then wakes up early to make everyone coffee. Everyone should have a Laura in their life.
Rebecca's sister and best friend - they've been working Weddings together for over ten years and still like each other.
Dave Chu
Drone, Finances, Small Business, photo
Near silent while working, but a joyful, contagious-laughter sorta guy if you can get him talking. A talented (but modest) skier and climber, Dave is a survivor of four broken vertebrae and STILL sends hard. He brews his own beer, custom designs the labels, and gives them away to friends. He's a sucker for a well-balanced spreadsheet and could probably fix something about your taxes. If you have one goal in life, it should be to get on Dave's holiday card list and receive a coveted "full moon" pic each year.
Rebecca's life partner, cedar's dad, source of at least 90% of the dad jokes
Cedar Elliot Chu
Professional Distraction
The sort of kid who makes you want to have more kids. (It's a trap!)
Dave & Rebecca's son, Laura's nephew, Hoodoo's (not so) secret source of floor snacks
Hoodoo
Small-ish Dog
Named after the geological formations, Hoodoo was a mostly feral desert dingo whose perpetual-puppy face will win you over before she even has the chance to prove that she's the BEST. DOG. EVER.

FAQ
Why should we hire you?
How do you backup our photos & videos?
What safeguards do you have in place?
For peace of mind. Experience matters A LOT on your wedding day. Having a DJ who can keep the flow going despite delays, or a florist who can make an emergency boutonniere on the spot, hiring a caterer who can whip up a gluten free plate on the fly... it makes a HUGE difference in how you experience your wedding day.
Having a photo + video team who can create absolute magic despite a well-intentioned (but maybe overly attentive) parent, or missing shoes, or a drunk uncle, or flickering reception lights, or stormy weather, or delayed timelines... it will be the greatest gift you can give yourself. We are deeply experienced, professional, fun, and positive. We've seen it all and still come out smiling with incredible footage.
This is one of our favorite questions, because we absolutely CRUSH the back-up game. Every photographer has lost images and learned from it, and thankfully that experience is long behind us.
We start by using cameras that simultaneously write to two memory cards. When we get home, your files are uploaded onto two solid state hard drives - one that's kept in a fireproof safe and one for "working files" (editing). We keep all of your raw footage on the memory cards and on the SSD in the safe until delivery. Once delivered, your edited images and videos are uploaded online and delivered to you via Pixieset, YouTube, and DropBox. They are then archived onto our RAID, which is backed up on the cloud via BackBlaze. To clarify, your photos and videos are always saved in at least three places. Back-ups on back-ups on back-ups!!
What gear do you use?
So. much. gear. We are Team Canon and shoot with dual cameras (two per person) and a nearly full line-up of lenses (per person), topped with off-camera flash, double-backed-up audio, and all the extras that one acquires having been in the industry for over ten years.
We primarily shoot on two Canon R6 full-frame mirrorless cameras, two 5d Mark IV full-frame dSLR cameras, and the DJI Mavic Mini 2 drone. We can't wait to talk to your Uncle Bob about his camera. 🙃 You can see our full kit HERE.
Will you capture our LGBTQ wedding?
Abso-fucking-lutely. *ahem* excuse the swearing. We're pretty passionate about this. And if you're reading this and are NOT an ally, please, reconsider. The Sunnybrook Team celebrates inclusivity and promotes equality across all genders, sexual identities, and sexual orientations. While we're at it, we believe in equitable opportunity and treatment for all races, nationalities, and countries of origin.
You will find gender inclusive language in our contracts and questionnaires. We are allies, but are still learning and may ask questions to better serve you and hope that you feel confident and comfortable with us to communicate openly.
